I tried a new restaurant in Midtown Oklahoma City last week: 1492. It’s on Walker, between NW 11th & 12th. Parking was a bit of an an issue, but we managed.
I love to eat adventurously; my family and friends, not so much. That’s part of why I suggested trying this restaurant; it offers lots of fun, fresh, unique dishes to try, and it also has a Tex-Mex menu for those who don’t feel like venturing too far afield. I had the very delicious Red Snapper Veracruz with coconut rice instead of Spanish rice (hey, it was for my birthday, and I’m pregnant — one substitution is not a lot to ask). Every other dish on our table was either enchiladas or nachos; everyone had only good to say about either.
Since it was my birthday, I tried the chocolate cheesecake for dessert, and it was heavenly (as you’d expect; what’s not to love about chocolate cheesecake?). My mother and mother-in-law split the sopapillas a la mode, and said they were phenomenal as well. Overall, I highly recommend it, and plan on returning there myself sometime soon.
