I recently was asked to go horseback riding here in Oklahoma City. I was so excited and nervous, I hadn’t been on a horse in probably 20 years. Little did I know that Oklahoma has many horseback riding trails.
My friend has 8 horse’s so another friend and I met at Draper Lake, where several individual’s have cut out 8 miles of beauty!! We went early in the morning, but the trails were very shady.
I was in awe of nature.. all of the wildflowers the terrain the beauty of the stillness was so comforting.
My friend rides about 3 times a week, she respects and appreciate’s her horse and the horse community. She was telling us a story about a study that was taken on women over 50 for bone density, and one lady had very very little, they determined the only sufficient difference in this women was that she rode horses regularly. There are numerous studies indicated that horseback riding is a great exercise for numerous areas of your body.
My thought as we were finishing up was how relaxed and so much more peaceful my mind and soul was after the ride.
Draper lake and Thunderbird lake have stables where you can rent and ride horses. This is only a couple of places in Oklahoma that you can ride. There are numerous places where you can take lessons. If you are looking for a activity for your child, I highly recommend checking out some of the venue’s in Oklahoma. My friend has recommended the horse camp at SNU in Bethany.
I do hope to do this again real soon. I recommend that you step outside of your box try something new and enjoy the beauty that God has given us!
I will be forever thankful for this experience.
